Bleeding from a tear in the gastric mucosa caused by transoesophageal echocardiography during cardiac surgery: effective haemostasis by endoscopic argon plasma coagulation.

چکیده
We present an unusual complication of transoesophageal echocardiography (TOE) during cardiac surgery. Although the patient had no oesophageal or gastrointestinal disease, a gastric mucosal tear of approximately 2 cm long occurred in the mucosa just distal to the gastrooesophageal junction caused by the TOE probe. Bleeding from the tear was stopped using endoscopic argon plasma coagulation.

In Vitro and in Vivo studies of the Effects of Cold Argon Plasma on Decreasing the Coagulation Time
Introduction Cold plasma is a self-sterilized, painless, and non-contact method in surgeries. These properties allow it to be applied to the living tissues and heat-sensitive parts. The aim of this study was to design a new cold plasma producer device and evaluate the effects of cold argon plasma on decreasing the coagulation time of blood drop in vitro and that of the injured liver blood in vi...

At the duodenal wall opposite the papilla, a large ulceration with hematin spot (l" Fig. 1) had formed as a result of SEMS impaction. We decided to shorten ...
متن کاملSclerotherapy for the Treatment of Gastric Antral Vascular Ectasia in Case of Contraindications to Argon Plasma Coagulation
Gastric antral vascular ectasia (GAVE) is a rare cause of chronic gastro-intestinal hemorrhage. GAVE can be observed in patients with cirrhosis and it is involved in several cases of persistent anemia, sometimes requiring blood transfusions due to the severity of anemia. Argon Plasma Coagulation (APC) has been proven to be effective and safe in the treatment of GAVE, the only contraindications ...

We report a case of an infant with Menkes' disease (MD) presented at the age of five months, with coffee ground vomiting, melaena with a significant drop of haemoglobin. Urgent endoscopic assessment revealed a friable bleeding trans-pyloric multi-lobulated sessile polyp. Due to further significant upper gastrointestinal bleeding, polypectomy occurred. Endoscopic mucosal resection was performed ...
متن کاملArgon plasma coagulation for successful treatment of early gastric cancer with intramucosal invasion.
BACKGROUND In recent years, there has been an increasing number of cases of early gastric cancer (T1, NX) with intramucosal invasion, which are untreatable by surgical or endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) because of their high risk. Currently, no adequate treatment is available for such patients. AIM The main objective of this study was to evaluate whether argon plasma coagulation (APC) is a...
